Marriage/Relationship Compatibility Test ISFP!

The personality type information discovered from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can be used, in a manner of speaking as a wonderful compatibility test of sorts.

The Myers-Briggs instrument itself is NOT a compatibility test. It is a personality preference indicator.

The information gleaned from knowledge of your personality type can be used to identify and actually create better love and relationship compatibility so I have used the term "compatibility test" to refer to using the "type" information in this fashion.Compatibility is critical to relationship success as each of the 16 personality types will bring instinctively preferred behaviors, personality traits, to a marriage and/or family relationship.

If you know ahead of time what those preferred personality traits are you have the knowledge necessary to make a marriage last and flourish; actually, you have the type knowledge to make any relationship grow.

Here is the ISFP way. You will see the many and varied personality traits that ISFPs naturally show as they relate to others. If you are an ISFP let this self-knowledge help and guide you in your marriage and family life. If you are in relationship with an ISFP allow the wonder of what you learn here to guide your understanding of and responses to how ISFPs behave.

If you’re not sure of your MBTI type take the Myers Briggs test here. Then come back and go to the type page for your type and learn.

ISFP Conflict Resolution Activity & Behavior Personality Traits

On the Personality & Marriage section of this site the statement was made that all relationships will encounter conflict. It is part of being human. How we experience conflict, react to it and move to solve it are instinctive. So we have some power and control and will INSTINCTIVELY and NATURALLY use our personality traits in a conflict resolution activity, at least some of the time. The following personality traits are keys to understanding the ISFP approach to conflict in relationships/marriage.

ISFP Conflict Reactions Personality Traits:

  • ISFP may flee the conflict, they will be upset by it
  • ISFP will easily see the practical but negative impact upon others
  • ISFP will desire to find a harmonious solution to the problem
  • ISFP will not take the most logical approach to finding the solution
  • Will view “conflict” as a distasteful, uncomfortable part of life
  • Will take a realistic, no-nonsense, in-the-moment approach to it…will be hurt by it
  • ISFP under stress may be very critical of others as they work toward solution

ISFP Conflict Resolution Activity Personality Traits

  • ISFP will naturally consider the feelings of others in conflict resolution activity
  • ISFP will typically show great respect, kindness as they work toward resolution
  • ISFP will try to satisfy all parties in their conflict resolution activity
  • ISFP will tend to put the uncomfortable conflict resolution activity off

ISFP Likely Positive Solutions Will Beul>

  • Realistic, in-the now
  • Harmonious to all involved
  • Practical and pragmatic
  • Feasible
  • Well-organized
  • Results-focused
  • ISFP Conflict Resolution Activity-Improvement Opportunities (weaknesses)

    • ISFP will probably quickly affirm someone else’s feelings and emotions in a conflict sometime to the ignoring of their own
    • ISFP may overstate the effect of any hurt feelings they may have
    • ISFP will many times make statements by asking questions instead
    • ISFP will have difficulty seeing a solution to far in the future
    • ISFPs may put it off if it feels too bad
    • ISFP will probably take it too personally
    • ISFPs may fail to logic things through enough
    • ISFPs may frustrate others by appearing too indirect as they work toward conflict resolution
There are more personality traits you can identify from searching other sections of this site in terms of how ISFP will prefer to recreate, prefer to make love, learn, parent and many other personality traits that will impact marriage and family relationships.

If you have taken the Myers Briggs test and are ISFP understand that others are not and that others may not share your natural personality traits and perhaps need you to give them more of who they are by modifying your “instinctive” behaviors from time to time in favor of their personality traits and instinctive behaviors. Likewise, from time to time they should modify theirs in favor of yours. The main idea behind knowledge of personality traits that are different is that it is natural and these differences need to be validated, valued and acknowledged. When this happens people simply get along better on many levels and that is priceless. Just allow the other person to be who they are!!
