ISFJ Time Management is Clear, Systematic and Objective!

If you are ISFJ my friend you are always aware of time and time management. It is part of your nature, you have a drive to know and order as much as possible before you begin something.

ISFJs prefer to have specific and step by step plans in place before work is begun if at all possible. So the more traditional, professionally recommended personal time management techniques are normally warmly accepted by the ISFJ.

Methods

If the ISFJ can write down or record somehow all the details and steps necessary in order to accomplish something the more skilled and natural they can be at getting things done.

Now if the ISFJ is in an environment where they cannot do any of the above, well they can get down right irritated, and constant irritation will lead to anger. This is really a “career satisfaction characteristic” for most ISFJ folks looking for a perfect career choice; find careers where planning is a natural part of getting the job done.

The ISFJ usually wants to help people and to work in a harmonious work environment, so using personal time management techniques so they can budget time, budget resources, establish timelines, etc that fit everyone is a drive for them as well.

“Finishing is better than beginning” is not only a quote from Scripture (Ecclesiastes, actually); it is a natural drive for the ISFJ. Time management tools allowing them to organize everything for as smooth a finish to something as possible are helpful and desired by the ISFJ.

Follow through and finishing well are important to them, and you to my friend if you are ISFJ! Goals are achieved in strong fashion when all things can be planned, tracked, written down, prepared for ahead of time, allowed for, anticipated in advance…..all concepts and realities the ISFJ embraces with time management tools.

Tools and Traps

The actual things used by the ISFJ will be the normal, conventional recommendations by time management teachers. The ISFJ will naturally embrace to do lists, day time keeping books, PDAs, sticky notes, calendars to write upon, anything to make a list upon, anything that lets them capture a thought…..a thing to do and prioritize it. Oh ISFJs when they learn to prioritize are stellar at prioritizing!!

If a personal time management technique will allow them to make categories and then sub-divide the categories….this is ISFJ time management heaven.

So, allow them, or don’t be surprised about them when they: write everything down, make lists, categorize work….and play, make appointment for play, list what needs to get done, what needs to get accomplished, checking things off as they go….always tracking were they are. What they are really doing is a knowing how they are finishing.

Let them establish routines….if you are not that good at routine and feel routine is needed by all means find an ISFJ and let them do it! If you don’t like routine that does not mean you are “bad” or “wrong” you just may be different…but use the power of personality and find the ISFJ to help with routine!

Now it “routine” and many of the above ISFJ time management tendencies cannot be accomplished by the ISFJ because of a situation or a reoccurring environment (such as work) they can get caught in time traps, irritated, frustrated….angry.

The ISFJ is so naturally, powerfully, beautifully RESPONSIBLE that sometimes too much responsibility with trap them and they won’t get things done and/or stress will build for them. The ISFJ can become pretty darn good at putting things off if there is no established method for planning their environment (again a strong career satisfaction characteristic).

I hope this helps with understanding time management and how the ISFJ will generally approach it. Just link below to return to the main time management page, if you like select another type at the bottom of that page and enjoy!
